Sandy is responsible for the sales and earnings performance of the Michigan business segment. The segment includes small groups sized 1-49, special markets, house accounts, and local Michigan middle and large groups sized 50+. Her team manages relationships with over 24,000 group customers, covering 1.3 million members and generating approximately $6 billion in annual premiums. The Michigan Business segment also includes maintaining relationships with our distribution channel partners, including agents, general agents and chambers and associations.
Since leading the segment, she has modernized our distribution channel through recontacting and introducing new technology, partnered with key agencies on data strategies, navigated changing regulations and contributed over a billion in earnings to the enterprise. Her leadership has driven significant segment growth while also driving down operational costs.
Sandy has been with Blue Cross for 34 years, with the majority of her time in middle and small group sales. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northwood University and is also actively involved in her community, as a founding board member for Impact 100 Macomb County.

Kerry Simmons has 25+ years of experience in the health insurance and consulting industry. She is currently the Lead Sales Consultant for HAP and covers the state of Michigan for the large group sector. Prior to joining HAP Kerry spent 10 years as an Account Director and 16 years at Priority Health in large group sales.
Kerry graduated from Grand Valley State University and currently lives in Rockford, Michigan with her husband and 2 teenage daughters.
